Specifications

I’m currently using the DriveImage XML 2.22 version which has a file size of 1.79MB and works on several platforms such as Windows Server, Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit, Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit as well as Windows XP. I was glad to know that the program does not carry any malicious components and spyware.

Features

DriveImage XML primarily works in backing up hard drives. It is configured with Microsoft’s Volume Shadow Services (VSS) which enables the program to create hot images and copy the files even if the hard drives are still in use while the compression maintains the size of the image file to minimum.

I am further impressed with this feature as it creates backup image within Windows so I need not reboot my computer system. Moreover, the image explorer feature of the program is also impressive as it enables me to open the backup images I created earlier and extract files individually. The inclusion of Task Scheduler feature makes it much easier to establish usual unattended backup tasks.

When I encountered some problems on a particular file, DriveImage did not force me to restore the entire image. And since DriveImage enables me to make a comprehensive backup image either from partition or logical drive, it allows me to restore everything from the whole operating system, registry, settings, installed programs and more thus I need not reinstall anything. I also found out that the program also run from WinPE boot CD-ROM.

Pros and Cons

I have done plenty of backing up jobs with DriveImage XML with a lot of ease without compression. The installation process is very easy, nice-looking and works fast in copying files from one drive to another. It seems odd, but so far, I don’t have any bad issues with the program nor encounter any problem.

DriveImage XML is truly awesome backup software and a must-have program to all computer users.
