Hackers & spammers all around the world are using various ways to get into your Google account to use them for their own benefit. It includes various ways like Intrusion, through spywares, or social engineering.

2Step Google Verification

But Now your Google account is more secure and protected, as Google has decided to roll out 2 step security for their Google Account users. This will not only protect your account from these malicious people, but will reduce the spam originated form Google account as well. Because with this system in place A hacker need to go through second step verification which is not possible in most cases unless he is someone known by you or close to you. For spammers also having so many devices to complete second step will be costly and hence simply impossible.

Google has already rolled out 2 Steps verification for all of their users, but it is not activated by default, you have to visit your account settings to enable it. Now question is how it works ? Once you enable it, it will add a second login step where you have to enter a randomly generated number while logging in. Much like banks do to their user when login in to their account.

2 step authentication setup

This code can be obtained by various ways, through SMS, through Phone call on a pre defined number, or using Google app installed on your Android, iPhone or many other Smartphone devices. Once you enter this code you have option to authenticate your computer in use for a maximum period of 30 days, so if you try login in again on same computer it will not ask the second verification code till 30 days. But if you logging through some other computer you again have to go through the Verification process.

Now if a hacker is trying to access your account he will be denied access as there is a very rare chances of he having access to both your account information and Phone/ mobile. Google even has option to specify backup phone in case your mobile gets stolen something bad happens. Only drawback of it you cannot log in to your Google account if you are not carrying your phone or somehow it cannot accept Calls or SMS.

Lest see what users have to say about this, let us know your comments and opinion through comment box.

Gaim is an open source messaging application that can help you run any chat client be it Yahoo messenger/ MSN or anything for that matter. Gaim now has a new name – Pidgin. In other words, several IMs can be accessed through one window.

Pidgin Multi Messenger

Gaim supports several features similar to any other messenger. Besides the usual there is a feature called Buddy pounce that lets you play a sound or send a message when a friend logins or walks away. It is quick and quite reliable. The interface is simple and in order to avoid crowding, tabbed windows for various chats are made possible. Yet another unique feature you find here is, when the other person closes your chat window, this messenger will notify you. This is something which doesn’t have plenty of animations or graphics. If you want to keep it simple, this is the best software. It also loads pretty fast. There is also a portable version so if you are travelling, there is no need for you to install this software first and then start using it. You can simply login and all your data will be available.

This program also has its own disadvantages. File transfer can be a bit annoying as it is not always consistent. There is no voice chat or webcam option available. So you can basically just stick to text messages. The security it offers is also not that dependable. So it might be necessary for you to take extra care of your passwords since they usually get saved in an XML file. But there is no need to worry because this is something that can easily be tackled.

Sometimes Gaim may get stuck. But usually most of the functions this application performs go smoothly. In spite of the fact that a few bugs still exist in this application, it is being used popularly. For those who are not planning to spend a lot of time on chats, this application is a great excuse. If your friends are on Yahoo, your colleagues in MSN and somebody else on a different IM, you don’t have to go crazy anymore. Get access to everybody and enjoy having a pleasant conversation. All said and done, this application and simple and simplicity is best appreciated!

This freeware is all about making things easier. If you are on every social networking site available, have several different accounts and are available on every IM, then it’s a given that you are finding it difficult to maintain your pace. So this application has a small rectangular window where you can add up all the sites you usually logon to and simply submit your passwords and login names. This way you can keep track of everything over a single window. Though Digsby was started with something good in mind, it did not really prove to be that good.

Installing this application can be a problem and even if you manage to change the sound files, the application always changes to the default type when it updates itself. While installing you may also be made to install several add ons which can be very annoying. What is worse is that it gets you to add a ‘Digsby accomplishments’ option and then recommend this application to people in your friends list. So installing this requires plenty of patience. But if you do manage to get over this phase, then this application can be really useful. If you are a big fan of emoticons on IMs then this wouldn’t stand good for you. Also there are not many choices available on layouts or how you would like to view your accounts and stuff.

Digsby

This application is quite stable and has a good interface. It works pretty fast and is usually great for popular services like Gmail, facebook, yahoo. The chat experience can be effortless and smooth. There will be no breaks or annoying hang ups. There is also this feature that lets you know if there is an update in the chat that is happening in the background. What is special is that you can respond to that chat through this bubble that opens open to notify you. This saves time since you don’t have to go back to the window in the background and then type your response.

Digsby

Digsby is pretty good if you decide to ignore the hassles that can arise while installing. It is very simple to understand and as long as you are alright with the default settings you will find this a great service.

The world always has had many modes of communication, but today the internet and email are the ones which are used extensively. There are many webmail services and be it personal or corporate communication, it is mainly done via emails. Out of all the webmail services that are available, Gmail is known to be the most popular among all users. As mails are important, they also carry vital information which is necessary to be stored. A back of mails is important for all so that there is no loss of information. Google has come to the rescue of the users as it now has approved a tool called Gmail backup.

This tool called Gmail backup will simply add to the convenience of the users, as always has been the motive of the team at Google. With this tool the users can take a backup of the email account on Gmail and they also have the option to restore their mail account. With this one can easily take a back up of all the mails that one has received in their account. Many users fret and are scared of the idea of losing mails, as this is a service which is generally not available with most of the webmail services today.

The reason behind this can also be attributed to the fact that most of the service providers are sure that any data on their server will not be lost.

Using the Gmail backup service is easy as all that the user needs to do is to give his username and password and then choose the folder on the system where they want to keep the backup of their mails. Only thing that one has to be careful of is that they should have an IMAP access enabled. As it is so simple to use, everyone can now simply take a backup of all their emails on their Gmail account.

Gmail Backup

The Gmail backup tool is very user friendly like all Google tools and applications. One can take the entire backup of mails, or take the backup of a few days, as they desire. There are options of since and after, where one can give the dates for which backup is needed. The tool is simple and convenient, and with this an users for sure would have been happy and comfortable, as there is no risk of losing any vital and essential information on their mails.
