Your Google account need a username and Password for you to login as of now, username is usually email address (only Username if it is Gmail), and password you choose. Hackers & spammers all around the world are using various ways to get into your Google account to use them for their own benefit. It includes various ways like Intrusion, through spywares, or social engineering.

2Step Google Verification

But Now your Google account is more secure and protected, as Google has decided to roll out 2 step security for their Google Account users. This will not only protect your account from these malicious people, but will reduce the spam originated form Google account as well. Because with this system in place A hacker need to go through second step verification which is not possible in most cases unless he is someone known by you or close to you. For spammers also having so many devices to complete second step will be costly and hence simply impossible.

Google has already rolled out 2 Steps verification for all of their users, but it is not activated by default, you have to visit your account settings to enable it. Now question is how it works ? Once you enable it, it will add a second login step where you have to enter a randomly generated number while logging in. Much like banks do to their user when login in to their account.

2 step authentication setup

This code can be obtained by various ways, through SMS, through Phone call on a pre defined number, or using Google app installed on your Android, iPhone or many other Smartphone devices. Once you enter this code you have option to authenticate your computer in use for a maximum period of 30 days, so if you try login in again on same computer it will not ask the second verification code till 30 days. But if you logging through some other computer you again have to go through the Verification process.

Now if a hacker is trying to access your account he will be denied access as there is a very rare chances of he having access to both your account information and Phone/ mobile. Google even has option to specify backup phone in case your mobile gets stolen something bad happens. Only drawback of it you cannot log in to your Google account if you are not carrying your phone or somehow it cannot accept Calls or SMS.

Lest see what users have to say about this, let us know your comments and opinion through comment box.

Internet explorer is no doubt, most used web browser in the world. Microsoft has released developer preview of Internet explorer 10, which will be shipped with Windows 8 in final version. There will be 2 flavor of IE10 available in Windows 8, one of which is standard IE and other one is Metro IE.

MetroIE in Action

Metro IE is designed to run on Touch devices like Tablets and other mobile devices and will be plug-in free, with minimal UI interface. It has only basic browser function available like Address bar, Go, Back forward etc. There will be no plug-in support for Metro IE, even no Adobe Flash. Running Metro IE without plug-in with increase speed of browsing and also results in greater Battery life. It will also add up in better security and reliability of this famous web browser. Finally after a long time we see Microsoft talking about reliability and security of Web browser.

In recent past it seemed that Microsoft don’t care for user experience as far as Web browser is concerned, At least form IE 7 it was evident. but this version of IE- Metro IE will have better protection for Users’ privacy as well.

Now the day’s most sites are going towards running without using any plug-in, like Google’s HTML5 based plug-in free interface. It was necessary as well, because now the days number of plugging to smoothly browse the web was rapidly increasing which leads to installation and management of lot of plugging. This also creates reliability and security issues. Also user experience goes down every time you visit a website and it says you need to install a particular plug-in. but with IE 10 and HTML5 most site will start giving you plug-in free experience.

We are sure that after reading this much about MetroIE and IE10 you must be excited to try it, well good news is that you can try it if you own the Windows 7 box. To install Metro IE you first need to install IE10, the core of both version of IE10, is same and that is why you must have Ie10 installed on your windows 7 machine in order to use MetroIE. Both version of IE 10 supports only windows 7 and Windows 8, they are not available for Vista/XP so if you running an old version of Windows OS you cannot run it live.

When you start MetroIE, it will start in full screen mode, with Address bar, go/Reload button and Back& forward button on a single bar. This bar is by default shown at lower side of IE instead of upper side, this is another good feature for Touch device users. If you looking for Windows 7 port of MetroIE you can download it from Developer Devian Art’s site here – http://yvidhiatama.deviantart.com/art/MetroIE-Beta-Part-of-Origami-266040311

Losing laptop is not a new thing (and neither the issue is going to be abolished). Owing to an easy carrying costly item, thieves often experiment their skills over the tiny machine. So, upon purchasing a laptop, it would be just ideal to install some apps to help you prevent your laptop from being stolen. Even if it is stolen, these apps are smart enough to protect your data from falling into the hands of bad elements.

LaptopLock Software

The apps must be installed before you start traveling with your laptop so that you can receive timely alarm in case any unwanted movement occurs with your laptop. Here is a list of top 6 laptop security apps. Some of these friendly apps are free and you will not find any difficulty installing them. Besides, you may too find some other apps attractive to you based upon your personal choices. You are free to locate such apps and install them.

1. LaptopLock

LaptopLock is a nice laptop data protection security app. Once installed, it takes care of your data in case you report missing of your laptop. On its activation, the program may delete your data, encrypt them, or even may launch programs to ensure safeguarding your interests. You may expect much more extended-activity from their site.

2. LAlarm

It is a Windows based free laptop security software that generates various kinds of alarms based upon configuration set up. Alarms it may produce include theft alarm, inattention alarm, perimeter alarm, disk alarm and battery alarm. The software is also known for its ability to provide suitable ‘data destruction and recovery facility’.

3. Yawcam

Yawcam - Security Software

Yawcam is an extremely useful security software tool. It uses webcam to keep an eye on suspected elements. Based upon your set up, the app prepares your webcam into a ‘motion-sensing tool’. Once activated, your webcam will start keeping an eye on the elements that try to access your machine. You may set the app to send automatic e-mails along with uploading its captured images using FTP.

4. TrueCrypt Encryption Tool

TrueCrypt open source tool helps you keeping your data in encrypted form. If hackers happen to enter in your laptop, they will not be able to read your data.

5. Laptop Alarm

Laptop Alarm is not a free-software; it may cost you about $2.7. It works on Windows platform and can raise alarm on three circumstances – one, your laptop’s mouse is removed; two, the power-cable is unplugged; and three, someone else is trying to shuts it down.

6. Firefound

Firefound - Laptop Security

FireFound is a different category of laptop security software. Unlike the other apps listed above, it is not a standalone software tool. The app is available as a Firefox add-on. Once installed, the Firefox add-on FireFound helps you establish location of your stolen laptop. Similarly, it can also be used to locate your stolen cellphone. Beforehand, you would be required to disclose your own zone to this tool. The tool will allow you to destroy data of your browser remotely, in case you find your laptop is stolen.
