Metro IE – Upcoming Tablet version of Internet Explorer

Internet explorer is no doubt, most used web browser in the world. Microsoft has released developer preview of Internet explorer 10, which will be shipped with Windows 8 in final version. There will be 2 flavor of IE10 available in Windows 8, one of which is standard IE and other one is Metro IE.

Metro IE is designed to run on Touch devices like Tablets and other mobile devices and will be plug-in free, with minimal UI interface. It has only basic browser function available like Address bar, Go, Back forward etc. There will be no plug-in support for Metro IE, even no Adobe Flash. Running Metro IE without plug-in with increase speed of browsing and also results in greater Battery life. It will also add up in better security and reliability of this famous web browser. Finally after a long time we see Microsoft talking about reliability and security of Web browser.

Microsoft’s new innovation for Tablet processors

It is indeed a very important announcement that Microsoft is likely to bring out a new Windows version that will be able to run on ARM processors. So long Microsoft has been partnering with Intel, and reigning supreme in the PC world. But now that ARM is ruling the tablet market, the partnership with Intel does not look all that promising for the future. In spite of Wintel being an empire or a dictatorship, as some like to say, Microsoft is not awed enough for it to remain tied to Intel’s hardware.

Gartner as well as IDC say that by next year, the new PC sales will have dropped by about a third, being pushed out and replaced by tablets. They also predict that by 2014, the overall tablet presence will have increased to about ten percent of all the PCs installed.
